Pediatric occupational therapy

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is about the everyday things your child wants and needs to do — getting dressed, eating a meal, joining in at school, and managing a body that sometimes feels like too much.

What this therapy supports

  • Everyday routines: dressing, mealtimes, washing, sleep
  • Fine motor skills for handwriting, cutting, fastenings and building
  • Sensory differences — sounds, textures, clothing, movement
  • Staying regulated when a day gets overwhelming
  • Playing and taking part alongside other children

Signs your child might benefit

None of these mean something is wrong. They are simply the things families often notice before getting in touch.

  • Certain sounds, clothing textures or food textures are genuinely hard to tolerate
  • Your child seeks out movement constantly, or avoids it
  • Handwriting, cutting or doing up buttons is still difficult
  • Everyday routines take much longer than they seem to for other families
  • Frustration builds quickly when a routine or expectation changes

What a session looks like

We start from what matters to your family. If mornings are the hard part, we work on mornings. Sessions are play-based and sensory-rich, and your child gets to make real choices in them.

Much of occupational therapy happens outside the session, so we spend time on what helps at home — adjusting a routine, changing the setup of a space, or finding a tool that makes a task possible.
