Pediatric physical therapy
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy supports how your child moves through their day — crawling, walking, climbing, keeping up at the playground, and feeling steady doing it.
What this therapy supports
- Balance, coordination and the confidence to try something new
- Strength and endurance for a full day of school and play
- Motor planning — working out how to move the body to do something unfamiliar
- Reaching movement milestones in a way that fits your child
- Moving comfortably with equipment, braces or a wheelchair
Signs your child might benefit
None of these mean something is wrong. They are simply the things families often notice before getting in touch.
- Your child is still learning to sit, crawl, walk or climb stairs
- They tire more quickly than other children their age during play
- They avoid climbing, running or playground equipment
- They fall often, or seem unsteady on uneven ground
- Getting dressed, going upstairs or keeping up on a walk is hard work
What a session looks like
Sessions look like play, because play is how children practise moving. An obstacle course is balance and motor planning. A game of chase is endurance. Your therapist follows what your child is drawn to and builds the work into it.
You are welcome to stay, and most families do. We show you what we are working on and how to weave it into what you already do at home, so progress does not depend on the hour we spend together.
